Five of the world’s top eight ranked ladies have submitted their entries for the PDC World Championship qualifiers.
As part of the expansion of the World Championship field to 96 players, two women will be included in the line-up from qualifiers held in Dusseldorf and Milton Keynes in November.
The BDO are yet to confirm whether their players are permitted to enter the qualifiers for the PDC’s show-piece event, but it is understood a number of players have already thrown their hat into the ring.
Three-time World Champion Anastasia Dobromyslova, who competed at Alexandra Palace in 2009, is among the high-profile entrants to the Rest of the World qualifier at Dusseldorf’s Maritim Hotel on November 17.
Current BDO number one Lorraine Winstanley, three-time world finalist Deta Hedman, World Trophy winner Fallon Sherrock and 2017 world finalist Corrine Hammond are among the other notable entrants.
The BDO are due to release a statement within the next week, though it remains unclear as to whether they will permit their players to enter the PDC qualifiers.
The 2018/19 William Hill World Championship offers a record prize fund of £2.5 million, with the two female qualifiers guaranteed a minimum of £7,500.
The UK & Ireland Qualifier will be held on Sunday November 25 at Arena MK in Milton Keynes.
Both qualifiers are free to enter and are be open to any female player aged 16 or over.
