History of the PDC Fishing Championship

The PDC Fishing Championship has gone from strength-to-strength since it was first held in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire, back in 2013.

PDC professional Darren Webster was the inaugural champion ahead of fellow darter Richie Howson before former professional Bantamweight boxer Spencer Oliver triumphed the following year.

Experienced anglers prevailed in 2015 and 2016 as professional Steve Collett landed a total of 17lb 1oz before former Olympic athlete turned keen angler Dean Macey netted an impressive 27lb 4oz a year later.

It was the turn of three-time World Snooker Champion Mark Williams to take home the trophy in 2017 with a total weight of 15lb 6oz, ahead of former BDO World Darts Champion Scott Mitchell - who bagged 8lb 9oz.

A total of 120 personalities have taken part in the PDC Fishing Championship since it was introduced, raising a total of £16,484 for charity.

In 2017, the combined weight of fish caught was 82 pounds from 113 fish.
