Tributes have poured in for Tommy Cox, PDC co-founder and former tournament director who has passed away after a short illness.

Tommy was instrumental in forming the World Darts Council, now known as the Professional Darts Corporation, alongside fellow players' managers Dick Allix and John Markovic and 14 stars of the sport in 1993.

A keen follower of Newcastle United and horse racing, he retired in 2015 but continued to promote the sport after moving to Gibraltar.

Tommy passed away on the morning of November 14 surrounded by his family after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
