The battle to secure a place in the 2018 European Championship will culminate in Gottingen this weekend, with seven spots still up for grabs.

Following the 13th and final European Tour event of the season, the top 32 players from the European Order of Merit will qualify for the Unibet European Championship in Dortmund from October 25-28.

Heading in to the decisive European Darts Trophy this weekend, 25 players have already secured a spot in the £400,000 major, leaving a clutch of hopefuls to vie for the remaining places.

There are five players on £12,000 in the European Order of Merit tied in 32nd position, though Andy Boulton, Darius Labanauskas and Jan Dekker's failure to qualify for the European Trophy means they are out of the running.

Jelle Klaasen, therefore, occupies the final remaining spot, while Martin Schindler must come through the Host Nation qualifiers in Gottingen in order to keep his hopes alive.

The chasing pack is led by Luke Humphries, who is just £1,000 adrift of Klaasen, with Vincent van der Voort, Krzysztof Ratajski, Richard North and Kim Huybrechts then tied on £10,000 and also with the power to add in ET13.

Ryan Joyce and Brendan Dolan are a further £1,000 adrift, while the likes of Toni Alcinas, John Henderson and Keegan Brown must reach at least the Semi-Finals this weekend if they are to gatecrash the main event.

Reigning and four-time champion Michael van Gerwen is locked in as the number one seed for the European Championship, with Mensur Suljovic likely to be seeded number two ahead of Gerwyn Price.

Irish duo Steve Lennon and William O'Connor are among the confirmed debutants in the field, as well as Ricky Evans and Danny Noppert.
