Gary Anderson picked up his fourth televised title of the year at the Champions League of Darts in Brighton courtesy of an 11-4 victory over Peter Wright in the final.

Anderson, the reigning UK Open, US Masters and World Matchplay champion, continued his phenomenal year of success by clinching the £100,000 invitational at the Brighton Centre.

The world number four began the day by surviving two match darts from rival Michael van Gerwen in the deciding leg of their Group A contest before producing a sensational 140 checkout to snatch victory and a place in the Semi-Finals at the expense of Daryl Gurney.

Anderson then dethroned defending champion Mensur Suljovic with an 11-4 rout in the Last Four, ending the Austrian's eight-match unbeaten record in this competition.

The Scot averaged 102.2 with four 180s and 52 per cent on the doubles in an assured Semi-Final display.

"It's been two days of hard work, if you can call it work!" said Anderson.

"Against Mensur I found that I actually played my own game whereas I usually play his game so tonight that was a learning curve.

"I'll hold my hands up and say I was very lucky in the end to beat Michael but it should never have got that far."

Wright had brushed aside Rob Cross 10-3 in their decisive Group B shoot-out and pulled off a magnificent fightback from 4-1 and 8-5 down to deny rival Michael van Gerwen 11-9 in the Semi-Finals.

The world number two produced a masterclass of finishing, hitting ten of his 14 attempts at doubles and averaging 101.4 to the Dutchman's 100 in a thrilling contest.

"I think I just ran out of steam in the end," admitted Wright.

"I had nothing left in the final but I lost to the best player today. Gary is the man to beat at the moment."

Both players registered a 180 in the opening leg of the final, but it was Anderson who sealed it with an 86 checkout.

He then doubled his lead before missing tops for a 145 checkout in leg three to allow Wright to get off the mark.

Anderson then reeled off the next four consecutive legs to storm clear before 'Snakebite' took the next two to reduce the deficit to 6-3.

A 96 finish on double 19 saw Anderson regain control, and though Wright found double ten in the next leg, Anderson turned on the style again by rattling off the next four legs in a row to claim glory.
