James Wade insists he did nothing wrong during his Premier League clash with Gerwyn Price in Manchester following which the Welshman refused to shake hands.

Wade ran out an 8-4 winner at The Manchester Arena on Thursday, climbing to third in the league table, but left Price furious following a hostile contest.

Price appeared visibly unhappy with Wade at various stages of the match and made his feelings clear to referee George Noble before making a brisk exit from the stage after Wade sealed victory.

Wade, however, has categorically denied any use of gamesmanship and says he will discuss the problem with Price at the first opportunity.

"I didn't do anything wrong, I swear to god," Wade told Live Darts.

"We'll talk to each other about it afterwards.

"I feel quite upset because Gerwyn Price, in my opinion, is one of the top four players in the world at the moment, so I'm a little bit disappointed at how things happened there.

"He can say whatever he wants and do whatever he wants and I'm quite happy to talk to him.

"I've got more respect for him than a lot of other players."

Price, who recently announced he has appealed his record fine dating back to November's Grand Slam final, is yet to comment on the alleged incidents.

Victory for Wade bolstered his hopes of reaching the Unibet Premier League play-offs for the first time since 2013, moving him a point clear of fifth position with two round-robin fixtures remaining.

He added: "I just want to be in the top four, I'm playing with the best players in the world.

"Gerwyn Price is probably the best new player coming around, Daryl Gurney is phenomenal, Michael van Gerwen is not doing what he normally does and Rob Cross is averaging 102 every game for fun.

"But give me any of them.

"Gerwyn is an ex Rugby player, he's got bigger heart and bigger drive than most people.

"I'm not saying it because of what's happened tonight because I'm disappointed with him in what has happened, the man's a tough man, he trojans aon and does what he does, but never write him off."
