The Shanghai Darts Masters is one of the newer additions to the ever-growing PDC calendar held at the Pullman Hotel in Shanghai, China.

With the aim of taking the sport into new areas and continuing to grow the game across the globe, the tournament will be the second leg of the increasingly popular World Series of Darts schedule in 2017.

Like all World Series events, the 16-man tournament sees eight of the PDC's highest-ranked players invited alongside eight local favourites, who come through qualifiers for the right to take on the best in the business.

Michael van Gerwen won the inaugural title in 2016 - beating James Wade 8-3 in the final - and both players will be on display this year, along with Peter Wright and Gary Anderson.

Phil Taylor is also among the big names in action during his final year on the PDC circuit, while Raymond van Barneveld, Dave Chisnall and Gerwyn Price complete the top-eight line-up.

The identity of the local representation is still to be confirmed, but one man who will be in Shanghai is 63-year-old Paul Lim.

The tournament will be held across the weekend of July 6-7 at the Pullman Hotel in Shanghai, China.
