Mighty Mike was on fire in the World Matchplay Darts, with the Dutchman hitting a 9-dart finish en route to beating Beaton
The bookmakers have slashed the odds on Michael van Gerwen winning the 2012 World Matchplay Darts title after the Dutchman’s impressive performance against Steve Beaton on Wednesday night which saw the 23-year-old claim a 13-9 victory.
There was nothing between the pair during the opening exchanges although Mighty Mike was on fire during the 9th leg, with the youngster hitting a memorable 9-dart finish that was thoroughly enjoyed in the commentary box by Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff amongst others.
Van Gerwen is now 16/1 with bet365 to win the World Matchplay and nobody will want to play someone who hit the highest three-dart average of the tournament last night.
Here is that 9-dart finish which will have the hairs standing on the back of your neck
