Darts' number one villain Ted Hankey makes his long awaited PDC televised debut on Thursday evening as he takes on qualifier Danny Dutson in the preliminary round of the 2012 UK Open.
The Count made a controversial switch of codes from the BDO to the PDC in January and will perform in front of the TV cameras for the first time as a PDC player on Thursday.
The twice Lakeside Champion has made a fairly rocky start to life on the other side, with a mixed bag of results in ProTour floor events so far, but will be hoping to make an instant impact on the big stage in the event known as the FA Cup of Darts.
Arguably the biggest name to be competing at the Preliminary round stage, all eyes will be on Hankey as he looks to come through a potentially tricky tie unscathed and avoid the ultimate embarrassment.
His little known opponent is Danny Dutson, who won through the Speedy Services qualifier in Leeds to book his place in the event.
The West Yorkshire amateur thrower is better known for his skills on the Rugby pitch, but will be hoping to take down the Count and make an instant name for himself.
The ultra-quick first to four legs format provides a level platform for Dutson, making Hankey vulnerable should he fail to get off to a good start.
This will be first meeting between the pair in major competition and promises to be one not to miss.
The bookmakers make Hankey the huge odds-on favourite at 1/8, with unknown quantity Dutson offering possible value over the sprint format at 9/2 with Bet365
should he handle the nerves.
The match gets underway at approximately 8.30pm GMT and will be streamed live over the best of seven legs from the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.
The winner will face either Gus Santana or Andy Jenkins in the first round on board two later that evening.
