Two darting heavyweights clash in round one of the World Matchplay this evening as Simon Whitlock plays Michael van Gerwen in a repeat of their epic World Championship clash.
Youth meets experience on the Winter Gardens stage, in a match which pairs together two terrific scorers and finishers.
Mighty Mike will be out to avenge his loss to The Wizard at this year's World Championship, a match which saw van Gerwen fight back from three sets to nil down to level at 3-3, before Whitlock edged victory in the decider.
Whitlock has established himself as one of the most consistent players in the PDC and is well fancied to do damage in this event.
The Wizard has been in blistering form this season, reaching the Premier League final and hitting a nine-darter en route; he will be determined to put his 2011 Quarter-Final heartbreak in this event behind him.
After a few years of uncertainty, Michael van Gerwen finally appears to be living up to his potential as one of darts' box office names.
The 23-year-old was named PDC young player of the year for 2011 and has since picked up a title on the ProTour; he is certain to offer a tough test for the composed Aussie.
The duo have met six times in previous major competition and surprisingly it's the youngster who holds the better record, having beaten the big Aussie four times including in both their ProTour meetings this year.
The bookmakers make Whitlock the odds-on favourite to progress over the long format at 4/11, but van Gerwen will fancy his chances of causing a major upset and offers outside value at 11/5 with Bet365
The match begins at 10.00pm BST and will be streamed live over the best of 19 legs from the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
