Phil Taylor will begin the defence of his title against the gritty Terry Jenkins at the Doncaster Dome next month.

The Power shot up the Players Championship order of merit following his double win in Wigan and will hope to continue his ruthless streak in televised majors against The Bull in round one.

Simon Whitlock has withdrawn from the event due his to ongoing ankle problem. The Australian hopes make a return for the upcoming World Championship.

His withdrawl means John Henderson takes his place having finished in 33rd position on the Players Championship order of merit.

Justin Pipe rounded off the best year of his career by reaching the final of the last event in Wigan and ensured he topped the rankings going into the finals.

The former tree surgeon will face John Henderson in round one, after The Highlander was drafted in to replace Simon Whitlock.

Raymond van Barneveld returns to the event after a lengthy absence and faces The Rocket - Ronnie Baxter in a tasty opener.

Other notable ties include multiple ranking winner Gary Anderson against Dutch wonderkid Michael van Gerwen and Mervyn King versus Colin Lloyd.

Vincent van der Voort and Co Stompe will contest a rapid all-Dutch encounter; a reprieve for Stompe, who was due to play Phil Taylor had it not been for the withdrawl of Simon Whitlock.

The tournament is to be played from December 8-11 from the Dome, Doncaster and contains a prize fund of £250,000.
