Phil Taylor continues his bid for a record equalling fifth successive World Matchplay title as he faces Ian White in an all-Stoke battle on Thursday evening.
Four players have already made it through to the Quarter-Finals and Phil Taylor will be determined to join them and prove that he is very much the man to beat this weekend.
The 15-time World Champion edged out Mervyn King in a tense opener, facing one of the toughest first rounds tests he has been offered in the 19-year history of the tournament.
It is clear Taylor has more gears in his locker and on paper should wipe the floor with his relatively inexperienced opponent.
White however is enjoying a superb debut on the Winter Gardens stage after hammering Vincent van der Voort in his first round match and comes into the game with nothing to lose.
The world number 47 has been solid all year on the ProTour and now finally looks to be transferring that form onto the stage that matters the most, even at the age of 41.
The duo have met just three times in previous major competition dating back to 1997, with Taylor taking victory on all three occasions, including a 6-0 whitewash in their last meeting in ProTour event in March.
The bookmakers make Taylor the overwhelming favourite to progress over the long format at 1/14, with White priced at 7/1 to cause a huge upset with Bet365.
The match begins at around 9.30pm BST and will be streamed live over the best of 25 legs from the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
