Hubbard took the £10,000 World Youth Championship title two days ago with his 6-3 defeat of Michael van Gerwen at The O2 in London and continued from where he left off with a series of superb showings throughout the gruelling day of matches.

The 19-year-old won a further seven games to pick up the £500 first prize in the first of this weekend's trio of Youth Tour events at the Rivermead Centre.

He began the day with whitewashes of Connor Durham and Dan Dean, before defeating Brandon Walsh, Ryan Harrington and Matthew Dennant to reach the semi-finals, where he overcame Keegan Brown 4-1.

Hubbard then saw off Ben Songhurst by the same scoreline in the final to win his first Youth Tour title.

The rich vein of form then continued in the second event of the day as he made it to the Semi-Finals without dropping a leg, but was denied back-to-back final appearances by the highly rated Michael Smith, who edged the deciding leg to win 4-3.

The second event was won by Smith himself after he went on to defeat Jamie Landon 4-1 in the final.

Norfolk ace Hubbard's £700 haul from the two events means he comfortably tops the Youth order of merit having earned £1,600 from the five events played so far.

The full field of 122 players will return on Sunday for the sixth event of the season, which commences at 12pm.
