The three-day ranking event will feature 48 players competing for £100,000 in prize money in front of a packed crowd in darts' European hotbed.

The new format for European Tour events in 2014 sees the first round held in one, eight-hour session from 3pm on Friday, as the 32 qualifiers compete for places in Saturday's second round.

The top 16 seeds come in at the second round stage on Saturday, as they play against the first round winners across two sessions.

Sunday afternoon sees the third round take place, before the tournament concludes on Sunday evening with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final held in one session.

With the European Qualifier and Host Nation Qualifier to be played on Thursday evening, many first round ties have still to be finalised, although the opening session will feature a number of other high-profile contests.

Reigning World Champion Michael van Gerwen, European Champion Adrian Lewis and fellow Premier League stars Wes Newton, Dave Chisnall and Gary Anderson are among the big names in action.

The tournament runs from January 31 to February 2 at Halle 39 in Hildesheim, Germany, with all matches to be played over the best of 11 legs.
