The Flying Scotsman has been installed as 7/2 favourite to take the title at Ally Pally but will need to improve on his first round showing if he is to pick up the famous trophy on January 2.
Anderson, who picked up the Premier League title in May, squeezed past Jyhan Artut in a sudden death leg in his opener and faces rising star Devon Petersen to round off the second round fixtures tonight.
His opponent is 25-year-old Devon Petersen, who sensationally knocked out Steve Brown in round one after winning his prelim game and qualifying as South African champion.
Now based in Bradford, Petersen will have to produce the performance of his life to dump out Anderson, who is likely to move up the gears.
Anderson's heavy scoring power may prove too hot to handle for his opponent, however the Scot is known to miss doubles under pressure, something which could be pounced on.
The bookmakers make Anderson the inevitable favourite, he is priced at 1/14, with Petersen the 7/1 outsider with title sponsors Ladbrokes. Anderson is 2/1 for a 4-1 victory.
The duo are yet to meet in major PDC competition, but will go head-to-head on the biggest stage of all this evening.
The match gets underway at 7.10pm and will be streamed live over the best of seven sets from the Alexandra Palace, London.
