Chizzy has enjoyed a sensational year so far on the PDC circuit, winning numerous ProTour events as well as reaching two European Tour finals and the semis at the UK Open in Bolton.

The St Helens star's power scoring ability and new-found composure on the doubles means he boasts a dangerous all-round game and is now one of the most feared top 16 opponents.

He opens up what he and many other expect to be a memorable Matchplay campaign against none other than Ronnie Baxter, a man who is likely to use the 99 per cent backing of the crowd to his advantage.

The quick-fire Rocket has received a hero's welcome at his home event over the years and will need all the support he can get as he looks to bring Chizzy back down to Earth.

The duo have met four times in previous major competition, and Chisnall has taken is yet to be beaten by his senior, having taken victory on all four occasions including 9-7 in their most notable encounter at the 2011 UK Open.

The bookmakers make Chisnall the odds-on 1/3 favourite to make it through, with Baxter priced at 12/5 for an upset on the final night of first round action with Bet365.

Either Gary Anderson or Dean Winstanley awaits the winner in a potential classic round two tie.

The match gets underway at around 10.00pm BST and will be streamed live over the best of 19 legs from the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
