Despite rumours of a major migration to the PDC for a number of the code's top stars, they have remained in the BDO and all have their eyes set on the world title.

Defending champion Martin Adams will be bidding for a hat-trick of titles at the Lakeside this year, having beaten Dean Winstanley to win a thrilling final last year.

Wolfie is the joint outright favourite and is best priced at 4/1 with Sportingbet to retain his title.

Recent Masters champion and 2010 Grand Slam winner Scott Waites is likely to mount a serious title challenge this year.

The Yorkshire thrower should see off Andy Boulton in his opener and is also a 4/1 chance to be crowned champion with Bet365.

Last year's runner-up Dean Winstanley has established himself as one of the top stars this season; his consistent scoring and finishing will make him a certain threat to the field.

Ladbrokes are offering 11/2 for 'Over the top' to go one better than last year by winning the title.

Villain Ted Hankey can never be discarded as a title runner, although his recent performances in this event has been poor, he showed promising form at the Grand Slam in November and could provide each-way at 14/1 with Bet365.

Another potential outsider for the title may include the popular Tony O'Shea; Silverback is yet to win this title but could 2012 be his year? Boylesports make him a 16/1 chance.

Arguably the pick of the first round ties sees Daryl Fitton take on Robbie 'Kong' Green on opening night. The bookies struggle to seperate the duo, but make Fitton the narrow favourite at 4/5.
