Simon Whitlock is a hot favourite to beat Andy Hamilton on Thursday night in what should be a high scoring match in Dublin.
Andy Hamilton is playing his first ever season in the Premier League Darts and the step up in class is proving a difficult one for the Hammer, who has won just one of his six matches this year. He was comprehensively beaten by Phil Taylor last week and it will be interesting to see if he can respond when he faces Simon Whitlock in Dublin on Thursday.
The Wizard is sitting pretty in second place in the Premier League and he was very impressive when beating reigning champion Gary Anderson in Glasgow last week. Not only did Whitlock have to beat the Flying Scotsman but he had to silence a raucous Glasgow crowd and he did so in style, with a 97.49 average.
Similar scoring will be need to beat Hamilton this week as the Englishman is one of the heaviest scorers on the circuit. He is a consistent 180 shooter and if he can hit the lipstick on Thursday then he will have a good chance of causing an upset, at odds of 13/5.
The bookmakers make Whitlock the 8/15 favourite to win the match, with a draw priced at 9/2 but the best value may be in the 180 market. Bet365 offer odds of 6/5 that more 6.5 maximums are scored and with Hamilton's scoring power, plus the fact that Whitlock has hit 13 in his last two games, this looks too low a line.
