Kevin Painter looks to dent the world champion's play-off hopes (credit: Lawrence Lustig/ PDC)
Adrian Lewis is still searching for his first Premier League Darts win of the season when he takes on Kevin Painter in Dublin on Thursday.
Adrian Lewis is the current PDC World Champion yet he has been unable to win any of his six Premier League matches this year, losing three and drawing three. 'Jackpot' has not been playing particularly badly but his doubles have been letting him down and it is perhaps a lack of concentration that is the problem.
Lewis doesn't help himself when playing in front of the passionate Premier League crowds and is frequently seen telling audiences to "shut up", which only riles up those who have paid money to see the top eight players in action. One gets the feeling that if the world number two spent as much time focusing on his game as he did on antagonising the crowd then he could well have picked up more points this season.
He is, however, being well supported to beat Kevin Painter on Thursday night in Dublin with bet365
making Lewis the 8/13 favourite to win the match. 'The Artist' is a 9/4 outsider. Those odds may be representative of the two players ability, on paper, but they are not indicative of their current form.
Painter, playing in his first Premier League season, has been in excellent form and he upset the odds to beat both Simon Whitlock and Gary Anderson. He has added more 180s to his game, which now makes him a formidable opponent (for everyone except possibly Taylor) and at the prices he is worth a punt on Thursday.
