Phil Taylor gives his immediate reaction exclusively to Live Darts following a dramatic 10-8 victory over Mervyn King in his opening round match at this year's World Matchplay.
The Power was made to work hard by old rival King, a man who always offers up a stern test for the 12-time Matchplay champion, but in the end Taylor kept his head to keep his title chances very much alive.
To the surprise of many, Taylor showcased a new set of darts on his return to the Winter Gardens stage, but the performance and result remained familiar as he averaged 103 in sending home plucky King.
Taylor now faces fellow Stoke thrower Ian White in the last 16 as he bids for a record equalling fifth successive title and 13 in total here this week.
