A host of seeded stars aim to navigate their way into the Quarter-Finals of the 2017 BDO World Championship as the tournament enters its business end at Lakeside on Wednesday.
Four of the top 16 seeds have already bitten the dust at the first hurdle, now a clutch of key title contenders aim to keep their pursuit of glory on track by reaching the last eight.
The pick of Wednesday's ties sees three-time World Champion Martin Adams up against 2016 runner-up Jeff Smith in the afternoon session.
Adams is aiming to avenge his shock 3-0 defeat at the hands of the capable Canadian in Round One here 12 months ago as he looks to mount a title challenge at the grand age of 60.
Lakeside specialist Smith reached the Semi-Finals on debut here two years ago before going a step further in 2016 and is out to continue his love affair with this historic venue.
All eyes will be on BDO number one Glen Durrant in the evening session when he returns to face in-form qualifier Paul Hogan.
Title favourite Durrant set his stall out with a 167 checkout in the opening leg of his clash against Nick Kenny last Saturday and will be keen to kick on from a solid 97 average in that tricky tie.
Veteran Hogan followed up his 3-0 win over Tom Sawyer in the Preliminary Round by edging out Welshman Martin Phillips 3-2 to reach the Second Round here for the first time in eleven years.
Jamie Hughes, the number four seed, looks to continue his charge by overcoming Jim Williams of Wales - who brushed aside multiple finalist Tony O'Shea in straight sets to reach this stage.
Crowd favourite Daryl Fitton resumes his latest Lakeside campaign against Pip Blackwell in what promises to be a close-run contest.
Fitton was a comfortable 3-0 winner over Wouter Vaes in Round One, while Blackwell dumped out seventh seed Dean Reynolds in a last-set decider after surviving multiple match darts from his young opponent.
Another tasty tussle sees 2015 Lakeside Champion Scott Mitchell taking on Belgian ace Geert de Vos - who recorded the joint highest average (96.9) of the opening round.
De Vos is aiming to end a run of five consecutive Last 16 exits on this stage but will need to overthrow the number two seed in order to do so.
The final remaining First Round tie in the Women's event sees Australia's Corrine Hammond up against Canadian qualifier Patricia Farrell.
The action gets underway from 12.30pm GMT, with all men's matches to be contested over the best of seven sets (best of five legs per set) and ladies matches best of three sets.
