We have reached the quarter final stage of the World Matchplay Darts, with four thrilling matches to enjoy at Winter Gardens today
Eight men remain in the 2012 World Matchplay tournament at Blackpool and we’re looking forward to some thrilling darts action this afternoon and evening!
Justin Pipe reeled off five consecutive legs to beat Wes Newton 13-10 on Thursday night and The Force will now play Ronnie Baxter for a place in the semi-final.
This is the first match of the day, with The Rocket having outclassed Dean Winstanley after an impressive first round win against Dave Chisnall.
Adrian Lewis and Terry Jenkins are next up on the oche, with Jackpot in the mood after whitewashing Robert Thornton and then claiming a straightforward 13-7 win over Andy Smith, although The Bull also looked good when beating Raymond van Barneveld.
Phil Taylor was an easy winner against Ian White last night although he has a far tougher opponent in the quarter final and Andy Hamilton looks overpriced at 4/1 to trouble The Power considering he was far too strong for Mark Webster.
The final match of the night is probably the tastiest, with James Wade likely to be tested by Michael van Gerwen after Mighty Mike produced fireworks to eliminate Steve Beaton, including a nine-dart finish.
