The pair now complete the lineup for the unique £400,000 televised event, which brings together top stars from the PDC and BDO.

Veteran Caris, who represented Sweden in the 2010 PDC World Cup, defeated top players such as Andy Smith, Steve Brown and former world champion Dennis Priestley en route to the final.

"This means a huge amount to me and it's a massive moment in my career," said Caris.

Heydon, an undertaker by day, qualified as number one after defeating Caris 6-4 in the final.

The Leamington Spa ace secured qualification with a 6-3 win over Ian White, having previously seen off Ken MacNeil, Kim Huybrechts, Brian Woods and highest ranked qualifier Colin Lloyd.

"I'm absolutely delighted," said Heydon. "It's nice for me to get back on TV and it will be great to play at the Grand Slam," he added.

Notable absentees at the tournament will include Ronnie Baxter, Jamie Caven, Andy Hamilton, Colin Osborne and Denis Ovens, after they failed to progress through the qualifiers.

World number 13 Colin Lloyd will be the highest ranked PDC player to miss out, while The Pie Man Andy Smith and Dennis Priestley will also miss out.

There was disappiontment for a number of former stars making their return to the oche, including Chris Mason, Andy Fordham, Peter Evison and Shayne Burgess, who all suffered first round exits.

Wildcard Qualifiers Caris and Heydon will be joined by the two World Youth finalists - Michael van Gerwen and James Hubbard when the draw is made on Monday evening.

The Grand Slam of darts will be played from November 12-20 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
