The first PDC ProTour events of 2012 get underway in Benidorm on Saturday, with around 150 players jetting off to compete in the two £35,000 events.

The events will be held on January 28 & 29 at the Media Hotel Benidorm, with newcomers Ted Hankey, Dean Winstanley, Tony West and James Hubbard among the players making their debuts.

A number of top players will also make their return to Players Championship action, including five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld, multiple major winner James Wade, Simon Whitlock and Justin Pipe.

Many eyes will on former BDO world champion Ted Hankey however, as he sets out to prove he has what it takes to cut it with the big boys.

Former World Masters winner Tony West and 2011 Lakeside finalist Dean Winstanley will also make their PDC debuts, along with other Q School graduates including John Bowles, Jamie Lewis and Gino Vos.

World Youth finalist James Hubbard also begins life as a professional in his first double event, along with numerous other young stars looking to make a big impression on the circuit this year.

Chris Mason and Peter Manley are set to compete despite missing out on Tour Cards, while Spanish World Cup duo Antonio Alcinas and Carlos Rodriguez head a strong Spanish contingent over the weekend.

The field also includes non-PDPA members from across Europe, including 16 qualifiers who won through a local knockout to earn their places in the tournaments. 

Play will be held across 16 boards behind closed doors, however selected games throughout the event will be played on stage in front of a packed crowd.

Play on both days will commence at 12pm, and all games will be the best of 11 legs. The draw will be made at 11am following the close of registration, with the leading 32 players from the rolling order of merit seeded.
